Frequently Asked Questions
Do you take insurance?
We do not accept insurance, but offer low-cost services capped at $35 per session with scholarships available.
What does it mean that the CCC is a training center?
As a training center, all of our counselors are practicum students in the Graduate Counseling program at John Brown University. Our students have direct supervision, access to our training lab, and receive the majority of their counselor education according to the national standards.
As such, all sessions will be recorded for our trainees’ supervision and training purposes.
What is your cancellation policy?
We require that any changes or cancellations be made at least 24 hours in advance any workday, Monday through Friday. Any changes or cancellations received less than 24 hours in advance may be charged the regular session rate. Any missed appointments with no call receive will be changed the regular session rate. Future sessions will not be held until the account is made whole. Clients will be placed on the waiting list after 2 missed appointments in a row.
Does couples counseling cost more?
No. All of our services are $35 per session, regardless of the type of counseling provided.
How long can I receive counseling at the Community Counseling Clinic (CCC)?
The length of counseling varies based on each client’s therapy needs, goals, and work with their counselor. Each of our trainees serve one semester’s length and clients have the option to be referred elsewhere or transitioned to another counselor in training.
However, the CCC does follow JBU’s academic calendar and is closed on holidays and during school breaks. Please talk to your counselor or CCC staff about upcoming clinic closures and school breaks.
How long are counseling sessions?
Each counseling appointment, or session, is scheduled for 45-50 minutes once per week. We are not able to offer multiple sessions each week.
What services are available for children and adolescents at CCC?
We offer play therapy in our dedicated play therapy suites for children, typically 11 years old and younger. We also offer both play and talk therapy for children and teens, typically 12-18 years old.
